Against the background that the inclusive education system in Indonesia is developing, it is hoped that the involvement of universities can solve the problems of implementing inclusive elementary schools, which the government has so far dominated with all its limitations. The study investigated the perspectives of several education stakeholders on the importance and the need for mentoring programmes to be implemented in inclusive elementary schools in Indonesia to achieve maximum success. Interviews were conducted with general teachers (n = 12), paraeducators (n = 15), university lecturers (n = 5) and government representatives (n = 2) about mentoring programmes that could be implemented jointly between universities and inclusive elementary schools. The thematic analysis summarises the statements of all stakeholders on two main themes: mutual of need and input between the university and inclusive elementary school and mentoring support system. The mentoring programmes are carried out in collaboration as equal partners between universities and schools with sustainable and systematic programmes. © 2023 ASPE.
